EDIL NOZZI S.R.L. is based at Via Torre 168 in Torrevecchia Teatina (CH) and works mainly across the provinces of Chieti and Pescara, taking on work elsewhere in Abruzzo by arrangement rather than as a matter of course.

Torrevecchia Teatina sits on the collina teatina, the ridge of hills between the city of Chieti and the Adriatic. That position holds three very different kinds of building stock inside a single working day: the coastal strip, the inland borghi and the first slopes of the Majella. It is not a geographical footnote. It is why our crews reach a site in the morning instead of lodging near it, why plant can be moved and back the same day, and why materials come from suppliers we already deal with.

The edge of the area we cover is not a line on a map, it is daily reach. A site works when the crew can get there, put in a full day and come home, and when we can call in on it without planning the trip. Past that point the job needs different logistics — overnight stays, plant standing on site for longer, fewer unannounced checks — and that changes what it costs. What changes from one area to the next

The three bands inside our area were built in different ways, and each imposes a different way of working. It is worth knowing before the sopralluogo, the technical visit to the property.

The coast and the Costa dei Trabocchi

From Francavilla al Mare down to San Salvo, most of what stands is post-war reinforced concrete frame, built through the 1960s and 1970s. A few hundred metres from the sea, salt air drives chlorides into the concrete cover and the reinforcement starts to corrode: balconies, balcony edges and cornices go first, the steel swelling until it spalls the concrete off. Many of these are second homes, empty most of the year, and in summer deliveries and street occupation are restricted. Structural work is scheduled out of season.

The collina teatina and the inland borghi

In Chieti, Bucchianico, Ripa Teatina, Guardiagrele or Casoli the typical building is stone and brick masonry that grew by accretion: an old core, a post-war extension, a recent veranda, floors at different levels and walls that were never properly tied to one another. Access dictates method more than design does: narrow lanes, weight limits, no room to stand a crane. Materials and rubble move in small vehicles over more trips, and that belongs in the programme from the start.

The Majella foothills

Climbing inland towards the Majella, building was done in local stone, with thick walls and roofs sized for snow load. Here what matters is freeze-thaw on exposed faces, the thermal behaviour of massive masonry, and the length of the working window: above a certain altitude concrete pours stop in the cold and some external trades simply do not run through the winter months. The programme is built around the season rather than against it.

How distance actually affects a job

EDIL NOZZI S.R.L. treats distance as a stated line in the quote, not as something to swallow. Crew travel, plant hire, spoil removal and supply runs all scale with the kilometres between the property and Torrevecchia Teatina, and they scale differently from one another.

Travel is paid for every day the site is open, not once. Plant is hired by the day, so if travel shortens the useful working day, the same work takes more hire days to finish. Demolition spoil has to go to an authorised facility, and we do not haul it ourselves — it goes with a carrier registered on the Albo nazionale gestori ambientali, the national register of waste carriers — so every extra run shows up. And anything missing on site is half a day of somebody driving to fetch it.

That is why distance appears in the itemised quote before work starts, costed against the real route, instead of arriving as an extra once the site is running. If a job is too far away for the way we are organised to hold up, we say so before the survey. That answer saves you more time than any negotiation would.

Do you work outside Abruzzo?

EDIL NOZZI S.R.L. works in Abruzzo, from its base in Torrevecchia Teatina (CH). As a rule we do not take work outside the region: a site holds together because the crew can reach it every morning and because we can look in on it unannounced, and at that distance neither remains true. Inside Abruzzo, beyond the provinces of Chieti and Pescara, we look at each job on its size and its logistics, and you get the answer before any survey is arranged.

How do you assess site access?

Access is assessed during the sopralluogo, the technical visit to the property, and always before the quote. We look at the final stretch of road, its usable width, the turns, weight limits, overhead cables, where a lorry can stand, where the skip will sit, and whether there is room for a crane or the material has to go up by slower means. Access decides the plant, the method and the duration, which is why it is looked at first rather than discovered later.

My comune is not on the list. Will you still come?
